[Group Outing] Quail Ridge - Saturday, Dec 12th

2020.11.24 18:25 RestingMehFace [Group Outing] Quail Ridge - Saturday, Dec 12th

NEXT OUTING: Quail Ridge in Sanford, NC
For our final official outing of 2020, we’re mixing it up a little. Playing on Saturday AND having an inter-club outing with the Sandhill Bombers group . They have a great community and multiple of their golfers have joined our outings in the past, so it’s time to meet a new crew!
Last Outing: While I wasn’t at the last outing at Riverwood, I was watching the leaderboard and it looked like a great time. The course played tough, and the field became polarized. But u/yahnasty had course knowledge and u/whataboutbobwiley had a great back 9 put them tied for the win! A special thanks to George for being the host!
  • Date: Saturday Dec 12th
  • Course: The Golf Club at Quail Ridge https://www.quailridgegolfcourse.com/
  • Tee Times: 9:30-10:50 (36 spots)
  • Price: $35. We got a discounted rate thanks to the Sandhill Bombers!
  • Reservation name: RDUgolf
  • Optional Skins Game: $10 (Tee box: White, using raw score, NOT net)
  • Lowest NET score prize: Custom RDUgolf Visor
Quail Ridge is tagged as “The Gateway to the Sandhills”, as it is directly visible from US-1 in Sanford as you near Pinehurst. QR was designed by Ellis Maples and opened in 1967 and played host to the ACC championships and US Open Qualifiers. While the course did call into poor conditions over time, in 2017 the course was purchased and underwent SIGNIFICANT upgrades and in fantastic condition now!
Important Notes:
  • With being an inter-club outing, please be sure to sign-up early
  • DO NOT PLAY SLOW GOLF
  • SHOW UP EARLY Showing up late looks poorly on RDUgolf and can burn bridges with the course, and puts excess stress on the person hosting
  • Play whichever tee box you’d like (people playing skins will play the same box)
  • Do NOT let your attitude impact your group (that’s just a good standard rule for golf)
Scoring
  • Live Scoring via the BlueGolf Rounds app
  • Weighted handicaps will be used: 0-5: 100% of hdcp. 5.1-10: 90%. 10.1-15: 70%. 15.1-20: 70%. 20+ 65%
Pace of Play Rules
  • Keep pace with the group IN FRONT of you, not behind *Keep pace of play within your group. If you are slowing your group down, pick up your ball
  • 1 minute max searching for balls and take a drop for 1 stroke
  • White / Yellow stakes played the same as Red Stakes: 1 stroke drop
  • 1.5’ gimmie putts
  • Triple bogey max
Skins Game
  • 100% optional
  • Using raw scores, not handicapped
  • $10 Buy-in (cash or Venmo @Craig_Walton)

2020.11.22 19:09 OnlyOneBeer First build in 10+ years, for gaming & software engineering

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
I will be mostly using for gaming and software engineering. Planning to play games in [email protected] or [email protected] if I opt out for LG CX TV instead of monitor. Mostly new AAA games, as I already own PS4 and plan to buy PS5 at some point due to exclusives.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
2000-2500€ (2300 - 2900$). Would prefer if it could stay around 2K.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
By the end of the year, or January at the latest.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Tower. If possible, monitor included.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
I live in Belgrade, Serbia, southeast Europe. No Microcenter. I do know that prices may vary depending on region, but as I haven't built a PC for so long, I am posting in order to get feel of what could/should I get.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Reusing peripherals, except monitor.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Perhaps interested down the line. For CPU, I would prefer 5900X. If not, would 5600x be fine? For GPU, I would prefe RTX 3080, if not 6800XT.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
1TB SSD would be sufficient. I used to had 60GB SSD when they were super expensive and just started selling, so I'm not really sure if I could get 2x 1TB SSD?
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
I would prefer to have som LED lighting and glass panel on the side, but still could go without LED. Also, any good coolers recommended?
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
No.
Extra info or particulars: Very grateful for all the answers! :) This is my first post on reddit ever, so I hope I got it right.

2020.11.14 20:35 hakanbrakan22 Problem with mac and football manager

Hey guys! Just recently bought the new football manager 2021 from a company called Eneba. They send me a cd-key so i can install the game through steam. Everything worked well until the installment was done and i was ready to start the game. The game does not start because my mac believes theres som kind of virus it but it's not, this has never happened before because it's downloaded through steam. I will show you guys the printscreen of what my mac says aswell. Is there someone out there who has a solution to this problem or any tips and tricks? Like how to stop your mac from telling you whats dangerous and whats not at least at this specific occasion. I bought football manager 2020 from Eneba last year aswell and i have ran that on this computer aswell without problems.
The picture in english:
''FM will damage the computer, it should be moved to the trashbin''
''The file was downloaded at an unknown date''
Mac info:
MacOS Big Sur v11.0.1

Thanks!

2020.11.11 20:11 YahNasty [Group Outing]: Riverwood Golf Club - Sunday, Nov 22nd

Next Outing:Riverwood Golf Course
Our fearless leader (RestingMehFace) is busy these next couple of weeks but he still wants us to keep the schedule going.
I've played Riverwood a handful of times and it is always a blast, with three different 9 hole courses it changes the feel every time you play. They do have some absolute beasts of par 3's with hole #2 on the Deer Run side playing 223 from the blues.
The last outing at Umstead Pines had 23 people power through the rain to see redcristiano come out on top!

2020.11.02 21:38 Actuapin I dont wanna be here, but im scared to hurt myself

I dont have the feeling to live anymore, im alive but my soul is dead. It feels like my life is on autopilot and im living it, but i dont experience anything, i dont feel anything, only frustration and sadness.
Im 13 years old. I go to school, do the things i do, come home, and start playing games even tho im really bad. While other people are out with friends and maybe dating someone, im sitting here doing nothing in my life. i feel like a waste of time for my parents as my dad works really hard everyday and helps his friends and i feel like im in his way. But i dont feel like i wanna disapoint him. I dont wanna make him feel like he didnt do enough. We are planning on building a new computer and i dont wanna make him feel like we spent all this time togheter just to die. Im afraid of the pain, im afraid that maybe i fail, that its gonna hurt real bad. Ive also had thoughts that maybe my family would be sad, i kinda have friends som im unsure if they would be sad. im just unsure if people would care. But some people only care about one when youre dead.

2020.10.23 16:07 RestingMehFace [Group Outing]: Umstead Pines Golf Club - Sunday, Nov 1st

The outing IS still on. The rain looks to clear up around one. We will be playing Lift, Clean & Place in the fairways
Next outing: UMSTEAD PINES GOLF & SWIM CLUB in Durham
THE VISOR IS READY FOR WINNING!
While I have never played Umstead Pines, I have heard great things and have had it requested multiple times, so we’re headed to Durham!
Last outing had 28 people at River Ridge and it came down to a nail-biter. I won with a 77 by 1 stroke after birding 17 even though u/atev had a strong comeback with an eagle on 18. The field ranged from 77-117 with an average score of 93. So every style of golfer is very welcome to join us

2020.10.09 14:44 seyth SOM PC Basketball... There must be game instructions somewhere? (Also, schedule building help needed!)

After a lifetime (20 years) of playing the boardgames version of SOM Basketball, I broke down an tried the PC version.
Let me say to start: I'm running the game on a Bootcamp version of Windows on a Mac, which creates some weirdness overall in Windows, so I wouldn't be surprised if it affected SOM as well (any experience here would be great).
Question 1: Does anyone know if the rules/gameplay documentation exists anywhere outside of the game? In the game menu I'd expect to find it under "Help" -> "Contents F1" but when I select that I'm redirected to a Microsoft page that says that type of Help menu is no longer supported.
Question 2: Has anyone successfully built a custom season schedule? I thought I'd figured it out by creating a new league, setting Games Per Team at 20 in the Basic League Information, and then generating a new schedule that started with the current date. At first it seemed like I had a schedule that saw each team play 20 games. However, after playing through 13 days of the schedule, something happened to ballon it out to 300 days.
Finally, has anyone had an luck contacting tech support? I put all of the above in the "contact" form at the SOM website, but when I clicked to send it, 1) I got no message confirming it had been sent (and no email confirming receipt) and 2) my browser told me the website was not secure.

2020.10.06 19:24 RestingMehFace [Group Outing]: River Ridge Golf Club – Sunday, Oct 18th

UPDATE: New, lower rate ($55 instead of $65)!
Next outing: River Ridge Golf Club
River Ridge is one of my favorite courses in the Triangle; Tough layout, FAST and tough greens, and requires thought while playing. Mini Verde Bermuda greens, designed by Chuck Smith Par-72 tips out 6,769 (72.4, 138) but has tees at 6,206 and 5,756.
If you haven’t been to an outing yet, don’t be nervous. We have handicaps from 3-20+ and the average score of the last outing was 93 (low 77, high 113), so EVERYONE is able to join.

2020.09.28 14:04 UncleGolem Can we get post flairs on the sub to specify which game the post is about?

I know Shadow of Mordor is a little dated by now, so it’s probably assumed that people are talking about War unless otherwise stated, but this is the Shadow of Mordor subreddit.
I’ve been lurking here for about a week, reading posts as I play through SoM for the first time, and every time I read a post, I’m always left wondering “is this a feature of the game I haven’t reached yet, or are they talking about SoW, which has slightly different mechanics and features?” It’s kind of annoying, and, frankly, it’s a little strange that the subreddit doesn’t have a flair for each game, considering most of the posts here are about SoW rather than the sub’s namesake title. To anyone who hasn’t played both games, this could get confusing pretty easily.

2020.09.27 15:04 RestingMehFace [Group Outing]: Chapel Ridge Golf Club – Sunday, Oct 4th

We were initially looking at Umstead Pines and Mill Creek but due to a member tournament and overbooking of tee times, both courses are busy. So we’re keeping this party going with an outing at a great course: Chapel Ridge in Pittsboro.
We’ve had a lot of new joiners recently and a LOT of lurkers, so come out of the shadows and join us. We have handicaps ranging from single-digit to 20+, so EVERYONE is welcome!
I’ve played Chapel Ridge a good amount of times, and it’s a gem of a course. A little south/west of Durham/Chapel Hill, it’s a short drive to am enjoyable course. Bob Moore and Fred Couples designed course tips out at 7,136 yard but have more comfortable tee boxes at 6,700, 6,500, and 6202. The course is hosts a very nice variety of holes and will require strategy from the tee box. The website has a great hole-by-hole view.

2020.09.23 00:20 PyrisManaburst Entitled (and abusive) In-Laws complain they pushed my family out of their home

Couple disclaimers : I'm 100% certain the in-laws are entitled, but if I'm advised this belongs in another subreddit, I will happily move it elsewhere. I just need to vent. Alot.
Second, its a long one. Coming on 2 years of this.
CW: Abuse, Self-harm (not mine, mentioned)
So, I (23M) am happily married to my wife(26F) and our young(1yo) son has brought us mostly joy, if not a little stress. I'm not too happily married to my in-laws, as since the beginning of this story, my wife's Step-Father (that's a loaded statement but I'll have to make relevant a bit later) has proven to be pretty toxic.
I met my wife a few years ago, and we hit it off through mutual interests, quickly falling in love and began to date within the year, after a messy breakup with my ex. Within 3 months we were ready to get engaged, and in my iffy housing situation (my ex had kicked me out of our apartment and convinced my roomates it had been my choice) we had arranged for me to move in with her and her parents.
Her SF was... comeoffish, to say the least. The family (2 younger brothers, one of which was a teen, and the mom) explained that he had been in a car accident and suffered from chronic pain and brain damage (as I understood it) that basically erased his filter. I initially thought it couldn't be that bad.
Well it wasn't long before the rants began, about how he was the only person cleaning in the house, only one doing housework, everyone is lazy, etc. This bugged me, but it wasn't terrible. I figured his pain matched with us taking time to relax after our full time jobs was frustrating, and I mistakenly assumed it didn't apply to my then fiancée and I since we did most of the dishes and cooking, and the boys would hide away most of the day, including Steve( BIL name changed for obvious reasons), who was the part time faher of a 3 (now 4) year old boy.
The first time I got upset about it, SF decided that, after encouraging us to set up our PS4 in the living room, we were lazy because we were gaming while no one else was home. I was confused, especially since we'd again just been the only ones bothering to clean the kitchen, but when I vented to my fiancée, she said it was normal and that he couldn't control himself. This rubbed me the wrong way, but I was by most definitions a tenant in the home, so I tanked it and moved on.
Here is a quick rundown I will shoehorn in to paint a clear picture of how awful this could get :
SF would consistently berate anyone not doing housework, pushing most people to stay in their rooms (comfort zones that were regularly intruded upon), but then both parents would complain that the living room was never used and that the dogs were unwatched.
SF would also make a huge fit if my wife were to dare ask to sleepover somewhere (she was 24), saying thats how her brothers got pregnant (both of them had kids around 21). He would also throw a fit whenever we would go out to DND (where we'd met) as we were "avoiding responsibility".
When he learned I was French Canadian, he began ranting about how they all drive bad, how stupid they are for wanting to seperate from the rest of the country (Author's note : anyone who knows what this means also should know that a very small percentage want to split), etc.
Any time someone would complain or mention aches/pains he would rant about how they don't know true pain and he has it worse. The same would happen if someone mentioned being bullied. He was deaf, so he had it worse.
The final piece that keyed me in to needing to get the fuck out eventually, were about the youngest BIL, we'll call him Marcus. Marcus, at the suggestion of my wife (before I met her) had come out to his parents as Bi. They had not taken it well, and so he had gone through a rather deep depression that I believe he still struggles with, but has help from actual supporters. After he'd gone through the worst of it (to date) he admitted to self harming. His father's reaction was to get upset and rant that his own son was accusing him of being a bad parent. Learning that had happened, I quietly requested we look for homes to my wife.
The rants became more and more awful as time went on, especially as my fiancée became pregnant and we moved up to wedding to have a bit of legal protection for the baby.
My wife-to-be's stress was high and she required more and more help around the house, as her pregnancy became too difficult to keep working in a fast food restaurant, so.she would spend most of her time trying to convince her brothers to help her, bur was met with dismissal and resistance. Eventually, she became angry as nothing had moved in months, and she was becoming unable to do any housework. It was clear, however, that she was expected to do most of it as "she was home more now."
When she finally snapped, her parents berated her, stating that "imagine how your brothers feel." "Consider being in their shoes. They don't want to switch rooms again, they are getting a downgrade" and that kind of stuff. Meanwhile we were searching for homes because the presence of all these people, and 5 dogs, was surpassing a legal limit, which had been hammered in to our minds by the fact that the words CPS frightened everyone, because BIL's son could be "taken at any moment."
This is where "Step-Father" becomes relevant. My wife's parental figure was actually not her father, not legally or biologically. He made it very clear to her, even though he'd been with her her whole life. He was a white man, unlike my wife's biological dad, and he'd never let her or her mother forget it. (Constantly telling his wife that she prefers "Black dick" and hammering in the fact that my wife wasn't his, and that she is different to the rest of her family) On one of his birthdays, they had brought him adoption papers, thinking it would make him happy, but he refused to sign them. This broke my wife's heart.
So when we got to planning the wedding ceremony, we expected him to give the bride away. Convincing him to do so was like pulling teeth. It took most of the remaining time to do so, and even then I believe he only did it because if he hadn't there would be massive uproar, as his little pod of a household was not the only one present. There were roughly 60 guests.
I forgave him, believing we'd be able to leave soon, but funds, market and so many other factors were not helping. Not to mention the wedding cost more than we though it would. In what we thought was a helpful move, MIL decided to foot what she could (and that we hadn't paid due to maxing out my CC) on her owm CC. This bit us in the ass later.
Eventually, our beautiful baby boy was born, though the birthing process met a complication that forced the doctors to perform a C-Section. This was to leave my wife in recovery for 3 months. She was explicitly told by the doctor not to lift anything heavier than her baby.
Well, that idea crashed a week later, when she was again berated for not doing housework, for the same reasons. (I was back at work full time because we needed the income more than ever) This continued for a few months before I eventually came home exhausted one day, and a few minutes later, SF and Marcus got into it. Bad.
SF was upset and yelling because Marcus had requested to go out and see a friend. Marcus had been caught a week prior sneaking out in the middle of the night to see aaid friend, so SF adamantly refused. Imo, that was reasonable. The yelling that followed, not so much. The things said? Even less so.
As my wife was breastfeeding in the living room, adjacent to the room where this is happening, we hear things being thrown, bangs and loud slams. SF yells that this friend is afraid to face the music, and my wife and I are terrified to even breathe. Eventually, Marcus states that his friend wasn't afraid, he was the one preventing her from coming due to this exact attitude. This made SF fly into a rage, and he slammed something, which prompted Marcus to come to the back door, right next to the living room. SF followed and grabbed him by the back of the neck, and while I swear I saw a punch land, I've been told it didn't happen.
Marcus flinches and accidently hits SF, which prompts SF to drag him back into the other room. I hear him tell Marcus that if he wants to kill himself, they can both go stand out on the highway, "Since I'm such a horrinble person!"
The fight continues for a while, and when it ends, SF comes to tell us he wanted us to help him "control" his son, a story that evolved into "my son was out of control" when he tells it to parties that were not present at the time.
When MIL comes home, she is told "Hey, I attacked our son!" She doesn't even flinch, and when her conversation with SF is over, she goes upstairs to yell at Marcus. I'm dumbfounded, scared and frankly so uncomfortable that I remain silent for the entire night, until I go to bed, but end up having some sort of nervous breakdown, crying and curling into a ball.
The next day I go to work and have anxiety my whole shift. I eventually tell my wife I can't live there, and I can't leave my son to grow up in that environment. I decide to go to my parents house, in the town neighboring the one we lived in. My parents don't ask questions and come pick us up. My wife wasn't happy, but came anyway.
Once safe, we had a fight, as she felt I forced her to choose. She felt she was betraying her parents by moving out like her younger brother had. She felt like her feelings didn't matter.
I told her that her feelings did matter, but by the way her family acted when this happened, it was normal to her. I told her that my feelings were that if SF ever decided to raise a hand to her or to my son, I was afraid I would freeze like like I had that night. I told her my son would not go through life thinking that being told to commit suicide was normal.
We fought for three days, and four days after that, we texted her parents. She couldn't bring herself to do it, so I did, having her vett the message. I told them that I couldn't raise my son in an overcrowded home where everyone lives in fear of SF being in too much pain. I explained to them that Wife was so afraid of betraying them, but that she agreed it was a necessary thing to do, and that we were not cutting contact, but simply putting a bit of distance between both parties. Lastly, I explained in all honesty that what SF was doing was abusive, and even if he never hit anyone (MIL was telling us, even though she wasn't there, that he had only defended himself) he was still psychologically abusive.
The only reply I got was "I want to hear these words from my daughter." This was followed by a call to her phone.
They spoke for an hour or two, and my wife was reduced to tears many times. She apologized more times than I thought possible. Then MIL played her trump card : "What about my CC debt? You guys just ran to pay less rent now that your brother is cutting hours." (Steve had skipped rent many months without repercussion, so this was a non factor).
MIL texted me, after the call, telling me she was going to sell things to try to make payments on the card to "pay it off on time" and that I should do the same.
The thing was that she had transferred the debt incurred by our wedding onto an interest free credit card, and the grace period was still in full force. We had all sat down many times to do the math, and since we'd told them we would still be paying the same amount we had been, there were no changes to be had on this point.
So I aaked MIL what she meant by "on time", recalling the grace period. She told me "We'll be fine if I pay the minimum balance, which I can no longer do." So I asked her what the minimum was, and did not hear from her again on that subject.
My parents did, though. She texted both of them directly, demanding they pay the entire debt off immediately. My father, stating that was a can of worms he wouldn't open in order to respect Wife's wishes of not making things worse, didn't answer. My mother stated it was our debt, and she was confident we'd be able to pay it off on time. We didn't hear anything on the subject again.
That was what MIL did. SF? Yikes.
SF, as was his habit, texted message after message of abusive, insultive and nast texts to my wife, calling me a liar, her a traitor, saying I wanted to isolate her so I could cheat on her, etc. He followed this up with "make sure he reads it", which I did, very angrily, but corked it, because enough drama had happened.
We eventually were told to hand in our keys, which hurt Wife deeply as her younger brother still had his, and we organized days to collect our stuff. The last day, MIL requested we sit down and talk about what was said, and Wife begged me to apologize, as it would be the last time I would need to pretend I was okay with SF. I did so, believing her and swallowing my anger and discomfort as I explained to her parents that this was not the first time I'd seen such things, and I couldn't handle being there anymore. I was told I'd called SF an abuser, to which I apologized. This was a mistake, in hindsight, but I was still afraid.
Over the next months, contact was scarce with me, limited to "payment received". We paid the debt off no problem, as calculated, and mainly saw them at family holidays hosted at Wife's grandparents. My wife took our son to see them a few times, though was uncomfortable each time, as she no longer felt like she belonged.
Whenever we'd be in the same area, SF would take cheap shots at us, saying we spread rumors and lied, even though he was the one who told the story to the whole family first, even telling my sister about it. This again peeved me, but in a family get together, I didn't want to start drama.
Eventually he continued texting Wife all sorts of awful things, and one day she called me during a shift crying, upset about his consistent invectives. This happened 2 or 3 times before she asked me if I wanted to go to visit them (for what may have been the 3rd or 4th time since we moved out) and I got upset. I told her I wouldn't go until SF apologized, because he clearly hadn't learned, and I had no control over what she chose to do, but I made it clear I didn't think it wise that she went either, because they would never want to change if they never suffered consequences. They acted like children, and we'd have no choice but to treat them as such.
She understood, and a day or so later I received another call from her at work, where she told me SF had gotten upset about her demand of an apology, but she'd stood firm. She went to the visit they had scheduled, but that was the last of the ones scheduled at SF and MIL's home.
Contact all but died between them for a while, until they decided to drive to our home in the next town to visit. The conversation was described as awkard, as the people present (MIL, SF, Steve and Marcus) had all been refusing to go inside, except for Marcus. SF spent the visit making digs at Wife, asking her if she was pregnant again, telling her she wasn't eating well (a humorous point, as she basically was expected to starve herself before) and that no matter what she said, working out wouldn't help and its because my family was overfeeding her.
She stood up for herself, she explained to me, on everything but SF's comment of "Why would I apologize to a liar?". He had made this comment almost on arrival, and she didn't want to bite the bait.
They left within an hour, Steve and SF urging them to leave, and again, Wife was left quite upset. This was the last time they had seen her in person since, over the summer of COVID.
They had had almost no contact since then, but my wife was asking them over and over if they would be present at our son's birthday (early september). The initial answer was "No, we don't think you guys will enforce COVID regulations". This frustrated Wife, and she decided to cut contact until a phone call was made.
Less than 2 days later, MIL called Wife scrambling to organize a way they would come. The solution? They wouldn't come inside, with the 14 other guests. I got mad at this, as this meant they expected Wife to go between what was essentially two parties, with our son, and leave the vast majority of the guests without the birthday boy for x amount of time. She agreed this was silly and decided that she'd spend time proportionally to the amount of people in a single location.
I had said many times when planning this party that should SF try to start drama, he'd get a single warning and then be tossed out, and she begrudgingly agreed, but this turned out to be pointless.
We quickly realized thag MIL was planning on inviting Steve, who we had elected not to have over as we had learned through Brother#2 (the one who had moved out) that Steve's son had a tendency of hitting smaller children, and many of our guests were toddlers or under 1yo, not to mention #2's daughter. So I urged Wife to text him, as Steve probably wouldn't listen to me, but she told me to try. To my surprise, he responded with "Understood. Next time tell Wife to text me herself."
It wasn't long before MIL texted Wife, telling her she should have told her before, since they'd spent the day shopping for gifts and Steve Jr had picked one out. She told her "now I have to be the bad guy to my grandson". Wife explained she was afraid of the backlash, to which MIL said "is this backlash? This isn't meant to be."
They texted for an hour or so, MIL guilt-tripping Wife into changing her mind. It didn't work.
In the morning, SF texted Wife : "Don't you just love it when Family manipulates Family into not being Family anymore? Kinda like some stupid immature tv show people play games against each other. WTF".
I'd had enough, and I texted him, again asking Wife if we would follow through with our words and showing her the text "SF, this is your one and only warning: any more attempts to guilt-trip Wife to changing her mind and you can consider yourselves uninvited. This goes for nasty and insultive messages."
Hour or two later, MIL calls Wife to tell her "Your husband uninvited SF". We send her a screenshot of the warning and are told that it will be ignored. She then spends the next hour on the phone guilting Wife, and Wife eventually ended the call with "see you guys tomorrow."
I was furious. Wife and I fought, while she tried to tell me she wasn't being guilted, MIL just wanted to explain the texts the day before. I told her just from reaction I could tell she was guilted, and that just because I say "I'm not hitting you" doesn't mean you won't bruise from the punch.
She insisted, so I asked her to tell me how the call started. She got two sentences in before my mother, present at the time, inhaled sharply. I asked Wife "what was the point of bringing up Steve Jr again, if not to guilt you?"
She had no answer, but still wasn't convinced. I decided the best thing was to cool off, but as I left, I said "Next time you tell me to hit send and won't stick to your word, just don't."
I was infuriated. And at a loss. I couldn't and I wouldn't force her to pick a side, I had promised, but neutrality was quickly becoming picking to ignore my feelings about it, and while I was aware she wasn't realizing this, I had a hard time comminicating the emotions without being incredibly upset. So when I managed to explain it, to my mother, my wife heard and told me she would text MIL that they were, in fact, not welcome.
She had heard me say that by letting them come after drawing a clear line in the sand, which they crossed, we would be giving them the signal that our word meant nothing. And since she would be the only one in receiving contact, it made them believe that they could bully her into complying to their wishes. And reinforcing the belief that I was seperating her from them, which at this point I simply believe that she needs to live without their influence to realize how bad they truly are.
She's clearly made realizations in the time since we moved out, since she defends herself from their abuse, and after the birthday fiasco, they scheduled a video call. They were supposed to avoid "heavy" subjects, but with SF listening in it quickly fell to an hour of more nonsense.
Quick highlights from that as I wrap this up : SF claimed I called him a racist via text. MIL, who always says she refuses to read SF's phone because she knows how awful his texts can be and she doesn't want to know what he says to others, claims to have seen this text. I've searched my phone up and down and I can't find it, so it must be from another person with my name and number.
They had blocked both I and #2's fiancée on social media after the fiasco, and when confronted about it by both #2 and Wife, they claimed it was because of negativity on my end and not knowing how to work the medias on #2's. This was obviously unlikely, as they had already unfriended me prior. Oh and the "negativity" was support for BLM.
On the subject of being called a racist, Wife defended me and said that, in fact, SF had made her feel like she shouldn't have been born many times due to her race and background. MIL defended him im very weak ways, never denying the things he'd said, just that they weren't meant like that.
Steve Jr showed up on the video at one point, at which point SF told him "did you know your aunt didn't want you at her som's birthday because she's afraid you'll hit her baby?" No one I've talked to about this thinks this was warranted or even any sort of acceptable, including Wife.
There's more I can't recall, but to conclude, we've been dealing with this since the start, and are now reachimg our limits. I am, however, prouder and prouder of Wife for sranding up to her parents blatant lies and abuse more and more. I wasn't invited to the aformentioned video call, but boy I could hear her not letting them get away with stuff. As of today, the situation seems to be that Wife's parents will no longer text, as it can be "horribly misunderstood" and Wife has restated that until an apology regarding their attitude is said, they are no longer welcome in my presence.
I'm not sure how it'll go from here, but I am cautiously optimistic.
EDIT: I am told the adoption papers were never physically brought to SF. The idea was thrown around many times over the years but the general reaction was "don't bother".

2020.08.08 12:57 jbip01 I'm a male struggling with girls due to my bipolar depression

Hi!
Firstly, my English is not my native language, so I might have som typos and formulate sentences a bit wrong.

I'm a male, reccently got diagonsed bipolar 2 and just started Lamictal.
Mostly i'm mildly depressed, and i've earlier been thinking that is the normal me. I've lately got some good friends, but been struggling in my teens and till I become around 25 year old (i'm in the early 30's now). During that time I mostly isolated myself and played computer games, and didn't really notice any mood changes.
However due to certain circumstances, I got some good friends that helped me get more social, go out to bars and clubs etc. What I found strange was that I from the very start had no problems being social, even though I had almost no previous social training! Then after a while I lost that momentum. I didn't get that much "sad", but got lower energy, less comfortable, found it harder to talk, lower voice and found it much harder (nearly imposible) to get attention from girls.
I did however continue forcing myself going out, believing that if I just practised being social, it would become better. Then again, I did on multiple ocassions get super-social, much attention from girls and so on. My friends kept telling me that we all have good and bad days, but I eventually realized that something was wrong with me.
I did a lot of googling, experimented with sleep routines, diets and so on. Often when I made changes I actually did get in a very good mode, and I though I solved the problem... till I crashed again.
I didn't really think I was depressed since I wasn't directly "sad", I just felt a loss in energy, everything was harder to do, and less motivated. But then I read that those symptoms is enough for it to count as a depression, so I went to my doctor and got Wellbutrin (I said I first wanted to try someting that didn't reduce my libido). Then I felt very good for a month, before I crashed again. I then tried Cipralex (which I belive is called Lexapro in the states), and the same thing happened.
After a lot of googling, I though I might be bipolar. I told my doctor, and he sent me to a Physciast. They did eventually conclude that i'm bipolar and i've just started Lamictal. In my country, the healtcare (including drugs) is paid by the goverment, and they have a country-wide standard suggested order in which drugs to try (Lamictal is the first). I've just reached 200 mg and will go up to a maximum 500mg if it doesnt work at lower doses.
Right now, i'm struggling with determining when I am normal. I did feel better when I reached 50mg, and got better and better till I crashed again after two weeks on 100mg. I'm a litte better again now, but not where I want to be.
What I feel is one of my biggest problem is getting a lasting relationship. I've only had sucess dating girls when i've been "up", but I don't always know if that "up" is hypomanic or a "normal me". I'm down about 80% of the time. I've meet far too many girls (Tinder etc), and except for the few times i'm not "down" I almost always get told that they enjoyed the date, but didn't feel any "sparks". I've just don't have the energy to create those sparks, and I probably look unhappy on dates.
I have as safe job and my econmic situation is good. I do however fear that I never will get a girlfriend. I feel like a "player" in my "ups", but sad that I can't have a lasting relationship.
My goal is to become stable and good enough for that. The problem is that i'm used to either lose the girl on the first date or that everything works out with no effort at all. I know that I ideally should be in between there somewhere.
That's a long post but I have some questions.
  1. I haven't really found many posts here about bipolar males struggling with girls, is there someone here that can relate to me?
  2. I've noticed my voice changes based on mood. When i'm up, my voice get loud and it can be very deep. When i'm down, my voice is lower and it breaks when I try to go deep. Not that the deepness matter that much, but I've been using it as a indicator of which level i'm on, before I try to speak with others. Does other have the same experience (I don't know if it's different with females and males, but please tell me which gender you are when answering this)
  3. I've been too obsessed with getting eye-contact and smiles from girls when I walk the street. I've noticed that when i'm up I get a lot of it, but when im down i'm ignored. I know I shouldn't really delve on this but... Any other felt this?
  4. I've noticed that sometimes when i'm down, my eyes are more wide-open, like i'm scared. Anyone else noticed this? Pretty sure i've scared a few girls dating with wide-open eyes.
  5. When i'm depressed, I can usually make it milder by forcing myself to sleep a maximun of 6 hours. If I sleep more, it become worse. Does anyone else have the same experience?
  6. Have any of you guys who have been strugling with girls managed to become "good enough" with medications?
I have a feeling that it's harder for males to talk about having problem with girls than vice versa.

2020.07.25 02:00 niecefucker132 TIFU by being in love with my niece

Before you think anything, a) this is a throwaway for obvious reasons. b) read the whole thing, no alabama shit going on, and no it doesn’t break the incest rule
Ima just start this by saying although it’s saddening, i think i made the right decision (which you will find out at the end) My brother is an awesome guy. He sends me money sometimes for video games and stuff and he’s made it out of some dark places and i’m proud of him. I’m in college (19) and he’s 31. He wasn’t always around when i was a young kid but he always tried to be an awesome bro. and he was. i moved away from the state we lived in (for family reasons, i moved in with my grandparents in 7th grade) and he was kinda devastated but he got over it. we called and played video games a bunch still for a while. coincidentally he got back into drugs for a while and had a shit life. after a few years he was for the most part off and by this time i was 15 and a sophomore in high school. he had had a number of girlfriends including one he had a daughter with (an absolute sweetheart, she’s 7 now) i had gone back to see him several times a year and each time he had a new girlfriend. most absolute bitches who just wanted dick. i didn’t really like many of them. he had a few that stuck for longer but most of them weren’t that great. he also had several different jobs and most of them were shit and paid shitty amounts and had shitty hours. he went through som hard stuff during this time. well fast forward to a little over a year ago and i go to visit my brother for a few weeks and i met his new “family”. He was now dating an older woman. i still don’t know how old she is but i’m guessing mid 40’s. she looks very young though anyways, she has 3 children. a 15 year old boy, a then 18 year old girl and a 20-something year old guy who has a newborn daughter. so i come over and i hang out with my brother we play video games, and we hang out. I learn that the 18 yr old daughter is also a gamer, and she shows me her setup, and it’s pretty sweet. Now at this point i’m gonna interrupt and say that I was 18, a virgin, and had never dated before. I was always to much of a pussy to every day anything to anyone i liked, and was (and still am) a super nerd. I play minecraft and vr games an absurd amount and i am a computer science major, so you could say i wasn’t drowning in pussy or anything. anyways, i talk to this girl (well call her alex) and we play some games together during the trip, and i show her my awesome oculus quest (which i bought literally as soon as i could). i had a blast both with her and with my bro. let me also mention that she’s an absolute 10/10, and i’m not even close to her league but anyways we exchange discord’s and talk a little bit after we leave. I got her into minecraft bedwars and we had been playing it almost daily. We exchanged phone numbers and one point. she flat out says one time that she’s into me. which absolutely blew my mind. i had long since accepted the fact that i’m to ugly and nerdy to get a gf and this was insane. she knew about my brother having new girlfriends all the time and we agreed that her mom and my brother would likely break up soon enough (although she wasn’t happy about my brother doing that to her mom) so we get serious. we start dating. i went there a number of times in the past year to see her, as i now go to college in a different state. we also engage in adult activities a few times, but i’m not going to elaborate. Fast forward to a month ago and my brother proposed to her mom. shit. the absolute love of my life who i have played games with every day for a year, is now my niece. I talk to her and we come to the teary resolution that we should break up because our family tree would be fucked up, not in a blood since, but it would still be fucked up. i was depressed for a while but hell its still fun to play games with her. she already has another bf by now which is good and i have once again come to terms with the fact that i will be forever alone. still super happy for my brother and the fact that this past year was the happiest of my life
TL;DR: my brother married the mom of the girl i was in love with and needless to say she no longer wanted to fuck with her uncle lol

2020.07.22 23:06 unseenshadow2 [Humanity Fucks You] #6: CCT 2 and the Fenrir Suits in Action

Hello HFY, the next in my series of what happens when humanity's special gift in the stars is to have children with whoever they damn well please. As with the prior 5, I welcome constructive criticism.
I don't really have much to say this time around, other than let's see if Cass's CCT ends up being 2 or 3 stories. Also, given that the perspective is shifting around I'm going to be starting each section with the date and character whose perspective it currently is.
As always, all you humans and mixed breeds: Keep those comments exciting!

Post Writing Author's Note

Well, it took me 3 days to get this written and it came out as probably the biggest thing I've ever written. Part of the problem of trying to take som many things going on and put them into a single story. But, hey, I managed to get both parts of the CCT arc into good cliffhanger states.

August 20, 2214: Cassandra Ferrell, Adams III Space Force Resupply Base
Cass looked over the grass field from the tree she had taken a seat under. Along the perimeter of the field was a patchwork chain-link fence with a haphazard mix of barbed wire and razor wire laid on top of it, beyond which the well kept and only slightly out of date facilities of Adams III were visible. Looks like they were stuck with the overstock. Within the field of grass was 10 tastefully planted trees, crisscrossing packed dirt roads, a scattering of large, garage style, white tents and 3 permanent structures: A large, square stone building that had 2 doors with the Unity symbols for male and female painted on them, a 3 story, mark 13 prefabricated office building (made primarily from steel, aluminum and titanium), and a wooden building, in the shape of an ancient round house with the word "MESS" painted above the main door. This place looks half-assed. Guess the Space Forces doesn't take civilian combatants seriously.
Lazily sweeping over the field again, Cass focused in on what was closer to her. 9 other groups of about 20 humans and mixed breeds mulling about, each group under one of the well planted trees with a little sign with a number on it, ranging from 1 to 10. All of the people within the groups where wearing the same white t-shirt, with CCT and a number written on the back in black, and black athletic shorts that Cass was, each with a day bag and a duffle bag placed at their feet. I feel like I'm in gym class again. Moving almost silently around and between the numbered groups, on the dirt roads, were 3 pickup trucks with metal pipes welded onto the beds to serve as mounts for a russian looking machine gun. Nothing screams militia like a technical. At least they're electric.
Finally, Cass brought her attention to her group: 18 human men, all of them obviously pure blooded except for the older man with yellow eyes and green tinted hair, a skittish looking werewolf woman, and herself. Hopefully they don't get any ideas in their heads. Of her group, the men formed 3 groups that seemed to fluidly gain and lose members, with the occasional straggler talking to the old man with yellow eyes.

August 21, 2214: Doctor Brooke Reid Ferrell, UGEC Space Force New Eden Staging Station 8
Dr. Ferrell stood on the last rung of a step ladder connecting cords into the back panel on a 240 cm tall suit of black metal armor. After attaching the final cord, she climbed down and walked over to a terminal sitting in the center of the room. With a few taps on the screen, something resembling the dashboard of a plane appeared on the terminal's screen, Dr. Ferrell quickly swiping through the pages of gauges and graphs. Finally finding what she was looking for, Dr. Ferrell pressed a 3 different big red buttons before inputting a code into the terminal.
"Alright Jupiter, talk to me. Air still flowing in there?" The Doctor asked, facing her head at the metal goliath.
"Yeah. Am I finally on internal power?" Asked the suit in a thundering voice that echoed in the mostly empty room.
"Yes, the microfusion core is active. I've also taken the liberty of equipping Fenrir 4 with a matter anti-matter device, which will detonate if you are dead and more than 50 meters away from Mars or Jupiter. Also, turn down your output volume."
"Corporate? Also, is this better." The black giant asked in a volume similar to the Doctor's.
"Yes it is. The matter anti-matter device was my idea. Can't have the suits being captured. Of course, if you need to you can just remove the device and plant it like any other bomb you've used in the past." Said Dr. Ferrell as she turned back to the terminal.
"That's not really that reassuring. What happens if I'm hit with an EMP?"
"First, the onboard shields should absorb it. If those fail, all the important electronics are shielded. If you happen to be hit by something powerful enough to disable a destroyer, you'll already be dead."
"So, care to give me the real briefing while we finish up the pre-flight checks?"
"First, turn your head to the left then the right and then center your vision on the green dot on the wall. As for what is happening, Mars, Venus and you will be waiting in the asteroid belt around where the namies are predicted to move through. The area is a mix of disabled satellites, asteroids and comets that have been mined out, and trash that we don't have space for on New Eden. You will be lying in wait for the biggest ship you can sight, then using the cold thrust to attach and attack. From there, break into the ship, vent heat once stealth is no longer required, and kill everything that moves." Doctor Ferrell said matter-of-factly while scanning over the gauges and graphs displayed on the terminal in front of her.
The hulking Fenrir suit moved its head left, then right, then centered as it listened. "Our objective? The actual one."
"A live fire test and stop the fleet from reaching New Eden. If you do need to place the matter anti-matter bomb, make sure to get the hell away from it and activate Fenrir 4's distress beacon. Alright now move your right arm from straight down to straight up, then fully back to fully forward."
The right arm of the metal suit move deftly as it followed the Doctor's orders. "So, go in guns blazing and pick the biggest fight I can? Got it."
"That's the short version. Now repeat with your left arm."
As the left arm made its movements, nearly nocking the suits docking station over, it asked "How are Mars and Venus?"
"They're waiting at the shuttle. We're almost done. I need you to walk around a bit, then we'll double check the weapons." Doctor Ferrell said, finally looking up from her terminal to watch as her metal titan moved from its dock.
"By the way, why are you doing this? This station is guaranteed to be a target. You're taking a big risk being here." The titan queried as it marched around.
"This is important. Not only to New Eden and her defenders, but also to the people paying the bills. Honestly, the whole damn project and 6 years of my personal toils are at stake here. I need to be certain the suits are at 100% and that I'm on standby for if something goes wrong. I can't trust anyone else to that yet."
"Oh. Shit. Guess I'd better make one hell of a show."
"You better. You ready to test the weapons?"
"Yeah. Shoot the already shot up armor panel?"

August 20, 2214: Cassandra Ferrell, Adams III Space Force Resupply Base
I've just met this asshole and I already want to throttle him!
Cass stood with at attention, along with the rest of Squad 4, all facing a caramel skinned, square jawed, 2 meter tall slab of human muscle wearing his blonde hair high and tight. The man was dressed in a set of camouflage fatigues with matching combat boots and the stereotypical, wide brimmed drill instructor hat. On his fatigues was a small patch above his right breast pocket with the word "ERICSSON." Did this the Instructor get his getup at a costume shop?
"NOW THAT YOU MAGGOTS HAVE FIGURED OUT HOW TO STAND IN A LINE, IT'S TIME FOR INTRODUCTIONS!" Instructor Ericsson shouted, at the top of his lungs, pacing back and forth on the grass and looking over his "students" like a wolf looks over a heard of sheep.
"I AM INSTRUCTOR ERICSSON AND YOU MAGGOTS WILL ONLY REFER TO ME AS INSTRUCTOR ERICSSON! WHEN YOU SAY SOMETHING TO ME, IT IS GOING TO START AND END WITH SIR! AM I UNDERSTOOD!?" Instructor Ericsson continued, stopping his pacing after his question.
"SIR, YES, SIR!" Came the reply from Squad 4 as Cass's gaze drifted over to Squad 6. Danny and company where sitting cross legged on the grass while Instructor Sam called out names. One by one, hands were raised and names were crossed off her list.
Instructor Sam turned around to set her clipboard down on the back of an SUV with some ablative panels attached to it, giving Cass a good view at the object of Danny's affections. She was an elf, wearing a camo T-shirt with the same black athletic shorts everyone else was wearing and blessed with fully human colored, yellow skin, sharp, squinted eyes, silky, chocolate hair done up in a bun, and blemish free skin. Her youthful, soft face became clear as Cass focused harder, as well as an athletic body with a tastefully large bosom. Jesus, Danny's setting his bar high.
"NAME!" Shouted Instructor Ericsson as hard as he could, barely 20 cm from Cass's face.
"Cassandra Ferrell." Cass replied, unamused. Do I look like a marine to you, asshole?
"WAS I NOT LOUD ENOUGH FOR YOU, MAGGOT?! WHEN YOU WERE OFF DAY DREAMING, I TOLD YOU MAGGOTS TO START AND END EVERY SENTENCE WITH SIR!" Ericsson shouted, spraying Cass with his spit and his breath. You need a breath mint.
"You actually said 'When you say something to me, it is going to start and end with sir,' but with more shouting." Cass replied, continuing to speak calmly and evenly.
"Listen here, maggot, you will do what I say as I say it or I will make sure that I see every meal you eat twice." Whispered Instructor Ericsson, as he stared Cass in the eyes. Brown and blue. He's heterochromatic.
"So you can talk like a normal person."
Instructor Ericsson took in a deep breath before growling out "Name."
"Cassandra Ferrell." I'm so glad you were paying attention the first time.
"Do you have a problem with authority, maggot?"
"No."
"Do you have a problem hearing, maggot?"
"No."
"THEN WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM?! MAGGOT!!" Instructor Ericsson spat out with pure venom.
Cass spoke with a slightly condescending tone as she said "We could start with that I'm not a marine, that you're a Civilian Combat Training Instructor, or that CCT is meant to teach how to be a creative militia, not how to be a soldier that blindly follows orders."
"THIS IS MY SQUAD, MAGGOT! YOU ARE IN MY SQUAD! I AM IN CONTR..."
Cass took in a deep breath before speaking. "You have already broken 4 UGEC laws in under an hour, including verbal abuse, verbal assault, and making threats. You have also broken at least 13 different social laws, split between the Federation of Yyyn Controlled Planets and the planetary government of G31-1-4 and you've probably committed hazing, but I would have to talk to some of my coworkers to get the exact details there."
"What of it?" Growled out the Instructor. I didn't realize he could turn a shade of tomato.
"A minimum of 30,000 Unity credits in fines and I'm sure that the legal team over at CCT Command would love to hear about your rampant law breaking, as well." Hold the poker face. Don't smile.
Before Instructor Ericsson could respond, a loud rumbling sound mixed with mechanical whining filled the air as a well used replica of a M3 halftrack drove out of one of the garage style tents. All of the groups and instructors watched as the M3 lazily rumbled across the dirt roads before parking in the center of the assembled groups. A speaker attached to the M3 shouted out "Squad 1, retrieve equipment."
Walking back to the front of Squad 4, Instructor Ericsson began pacing back and forth as he shouted "LISTEN UP, MAGGOTS! WHEN SQUAD 4 GETS CALLED, I EXPECT YOU MAGGOTS TO FORM A STRAIGHT, SINGLE FILE LINE, TAKE THE EQUIPMENT THE QUARTERMASTER HANDS YOU, THANK HIM, AND RETURN TO EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE STANDING! AM I UNDERSTOOD!?"
Squad 4, including Cass, responded with a "Sir, yes, sir." This battle isn't worth it.

August 22, 2214: Doctor Brooke Reid Ferrell, UGEC Space Force New Eden Staging Station 8
"Mars, in position, awaiting orders."
"Venus, in position, awaitidng orders."
"Jupiter, in position, awaiting orders."
Doctor Ferrell sat in the command room, surrounded by computer terminals, monitors big and small, and Space Force officers. Her current chair was placed on a raised platform in the back, second in height to the chair in which the Admiral Wolf of the New Eden Defence Fleet sat, giving her the ability to see the whole of the command room.
The ironically quarter itari Admiral Wolf looked down at Dr. Ferrell, his 2 sandy brown, sort, cat-like ears standing straight up and facing forward. "Doctor, all units are in place and our ships have returned to defensive positions. Any words to the troops before I call radio silence?"
"Yes Admiral." Dr. Ferrell said, grabbing the microphone attached to her chair and pressing the TALK button. "All units, this is Doctor Ferrell. Operation Rocky Grave officially starts once Project Silent Night is activated. Until it has, you are to stay hidden. As you all know, the primary objective of Operation Rocky Grave is to prevent the namy fleet from reaching a firing position that can target New Eden, but what many of you don't know is the secondary object: To capture as many namy ships as possible. They possess tactically useful information and technology, but remember that to somebody on New Eden, each of you is more important than those ships. For that reason, I expect to see each of you return safely. Good luck and god speed."
Dr. Ferrell looked up at Admiral Wolf. "I'm done."
"All units, this is Admiral Wolf calling radio silence. It will be lifted 10 minutes after you successfully board an enemy vessel. Over."
One by one, the dots on the tac-map at the front of the command room slowly blinked out, until only the quantum-linked comm sat remained. With that, the whole of the command room breathed a sigh of relief before continuing their duties.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August 20, 2214: Cassandra Ferrell, Adams III Space Force Resupply Base
Cass sat at the square wooden table with the skittish werewolf, her muscles aching. So far, she had set up her tent and cot, had a silent lunch with her squad, and then PT from lunch till dinner. I now understand why far worlders never seem to get fat. Cass took a moment to study the werewolf: a little under 3 meters tall, a wall of muscle covered in course black fur, with the assortment of arms and legs with the only notable change to the hands being ocean blue painted claws, and head that looked stolen straight from a wolf, gold eyes and all. She must be a gentle giant.
"Sssssssssooooooooo, what's your name?" Cass asked, poking at the mystery meat stew that claimed to be beef.
"Kathrine." The 3 meters of scaredy-cat replied, before nervously adding "But, but, but, my friends call me Kat."
"Bet the Kat jokes get old. I'm Cassandra, but everyone calls me Cass. It's a pleasure to meet you." Cass said, holding out her right hand and putting on a gentle smile.
"Yeah, they do and it is, uh, nice to meet, um, you too." Kat said, grabbing the comparatively tiny hand of Cass and giving it a good shake. I wonder if a belly rub would help her calm down.
"Have you had Ericsson before?" Cass asked, picking up her bowl of mystery meat stew and drinking it quickly, before she could taste it.
"Yeah, for 2 years now. I-I-I hope that you calling him out this morning makes him less shouty." Kat stated, hunching over the table as she spoke. Me too, girlfriend.
"Yeah, I think everyone agrees with you there, Kat. What do you do for a job? For fun?"
"Uh, um, well I'm a botanist. I mostly work on genetically engineering plants for new colonization efforts, but I've also done some work for planetary enterprises. If you've had corn, green beans or wheat products here, I worked on making those farmable on G31-1-4. As for what I do for fun? Floral gardening, mainly. I also like going to nezba concerts. It's nice, slow, quiet music." Ah ha! Got her talking confidently for a moment.
"I work as a translator for the diplomats up in Yadakulter station. Not many know this, but I'm actually fluent in 3 different wresh languages. For fun, I go to parties, thought there aren't that many on Yadakulter, hang out with fiends, listen to music, and sometimes play video games. Mostly just the ones that my friends get me into."
"Wow, that's way more intere..." Kat trailed off as Instructor Sam pulled a chair back from the square table.
"May I join ya?" Asked Instructor Sam, while setting down her bowl of what looked to be actual beef stew.
"Of course. I don't think we've met yet. I'm Cass." Cass said with a smile.
"I-I-I'm Kat. Nice to, to meet ya." Kat said, her body pulling back from the table a few centimeters.
"Instructor Samantha Kirk. Yes, both my parents were elves." Instructor Sam said, dismissively waving her right hand as she spoke of her lineage. Right, yyyn and elves take longer to happen than the rest of us.
"What brings you over to our little table?" Inquired Cass.
"I'm curious what got Erik so riled this morning. He shouted loud enough my squad couldn't hear what I was telling them and when I looked over he was close enough to kiss ya." Stated Instructor Sam before taking a bite of her actually beef stew.
"He just couldn't handle someone who wouldn't play boot camp with him." Cass said nonchalantly.
"You're maybe the second person I've met who can stand having Erik bear down on them. The other was an actual drill sergeant, if I remember correctly. So, how did you handle being under Erik's fire?" Instructor Sam asked, a couple of onion substitutes still in her mouth. Someone's seriously curious.
"Dad's in the SF. Back when I was little, he worked shuttle maintenance for a Space Force resupply base on New Eden. Spent half my childhood following Dad all around Hawthorne. Not only have I met sensor techs scarier than Ericsson, I also spent more than a few days watching poor saps go through boot camp. Most SF RDCs actually make good babysitters." Master Chief Schmidt was actually a really nice guy when he wasn't making recruits Schmidt themselves.
"RDCs?" Kat managed to get off before Instructor Sam could respond.
"Recruit Division Commanders. They're the drill instructors for the Space Force, and most UGEC navies." Cass recited back.
"Well that explains it. Bet he doesn't even compare to the professionals." Instructor Sam inquired. You don't even know the half of it.
"He lacks the creativity and the colorful words. It's hard to see someone whose entire repertoire of 'bad words' is maggot and fuck as intimidating." Cass stated.
Kat shivered a little before saying "Well, Instructor Ericsson scares me."
Without a moment's hesitation Cass blurted out "That's okay. You're a sweet girl, and he has no right to yell at you!"

August 23, 2214: Codename Jupiter, Fenrir 4, New Eden Asteroid Belt, Anados Debris Field
Jupiter squirmed in his suit of Fenrir Assault Power Armor. Sure, it was designed to be lived in for 5 days, but not comfortably. Through the visor he could see the target of the test fire, a half kilometer long, beak shaped namy battleship, slowly shedding black plating to reveal the bright yellow and red hull beneath. Can the fucking birds make anything that doesn't look like it belongs in a children's book?
The Fenrir suit unlocked at Jupiter's command. Ah, it feels nice to be able to move again. With a careful squat and push, Jupiter and his armor began the slow hurtle towards the, now obviously a Kek-class, battleship. He looked around as he drifted, watching as the gamble started to show signs of paying off. Seems like the admiralty's belief that the namies were gonna bunch up was right. Within visual range (with only a 4x zoom require to see), there were hundreds of almost invisible black dots descending on the visible ships, and even a few slightly more visible shuttles.
As Jupiter looked back at his target, a small jet of white fluid shooting out from his suit to correct his course, he could see Mars (Fenrir 2) and Venus (Fenrir 1) clearly against the colorful Kek-class, each drifting a hundred, or so, meters ahead of him. Guess I'm gonna be stuck buying drinks when we get back. Within five minutes, Jupiter was reorienting himself to land feet first on his target, quickly checking where Mars and Venus had landed before him.
THUD. Jupiter took a moment to just walk for the first time in almost an entire day, lazily looking for where Venus was headed. Shit, if Venus finds the entrance first I'm gonna have to buy Mars dinner and drinks. To his dread, Jupiter spotted Venus already opening the maintenance panel to one of the Kek's external airlocks.
It didn't take long for Jupiter to group up with the other 2 Fenrir operators, who could only communicate by hand signals and aggressive nodding. Before Charades in Space was over, Venus managed to open the airlock. The 3 of them piled in before closing the outer door and, within 2 minutes after landing, entered the battleship.
When the airlock door opened, Jupiter could see a namy standing there, frozen in terror. The thing looked like someone took a dodo, made it the size of an emu, and then made it as colorful as a parrot. Fuck, fuck, shit. Jupiter dropped his shoulder down and charged, the Fenrir suit slamming into the namy, then the wall, leaving only a blood stain, a dent, and some feathers as evidence of the poor bird. That was... smooth. Looks like the doc was serious about operating at 100.
Jupiter took in the bright green hallway as his team readied their weapons: Each of them was equipped with an M301 Variable Yield Magnetic Acceleration Rifle, which borrowed its appearance from H&K's G36, a different wrist and shoulder weapon for each operator, and a backup M2-T3 Machine Gun, a modification of the almost 300 year old .50 machine gun that gave it a shorter, heaver barrel, shoulder stock, and pistol grip with trigger for use with powered armor. Rifle, check. Wrist mounted plasma projector, check. Shoulder mounted grenade launcher, check. Powder weapon, check.
By the 5 minutes after landing mark, Jupiter and his team had already captured the battleship's main computer and cleared it of hostiles. I'm amazed the namies put it so close to the airlock. While Venus set about pulling all the information they could, Jupiter spoke, the Fenrir suit turning his voice into something comparable to an artillery strike. "We've passed the five minute mark. Turn comms back on. I'll handle the sync with command. Mars, watch the door. Venus, keep doing whatever you are with the computer."
As the stream of data started flooding in, Jupiter commanded the suit's comm suite through the automated systems, finally getting a connection to command. "Command, this is Assault Team 100. We've boarded a kek class battleship and have gained access to the main computer core. We are pulling a full data dump and will upload immediately after. Over."
"Assault Team 100, this is command. We are ready to receive the packet whenever you are ready. Current positional data indicates you have boarded the Glorious Kek Class of Rightful Retribution and Mesmerizing Fire. I'm assigning your team to Battle Group 9. Over."
"Assignment received. Operative Venus has the packet and is sending it now. Will coordinate with Battle Group 9. Assault Team 100 out."
Jupiter waited as the tactical information of Battle Group 9 flooded in. 5 Thor suit fire teams, 20 SWAT units and 1 anti-terror unit. Primarily focused around the rear of the ship. According to the map Venus found, we're the closest to the bridge.
"Battle Group 9, this is Assault Team 100. According to a map we found, we're the closest to the bridge. Going to make a mad rush for the bridge, but we'll be down one. After Operative Venus is done uploading what she can pull from the central computer, she'll group up with the closest Assault Team. How copy?"
"This is Assault Team 29, serving as lead for Battle Group 9. We hear you Assault Team 100. We'll clean out the ass and perform the anti-scuttling operations, you go ahead after the bridge. Out."
Jupiter turned to Mars. "You're with me. Venus, you think you can keep yourself safe?"
"Go and have your guy time, I'll be fine." Venus replied with an annoyed tone.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jupiter and Mars tore through most of the path to the bridge with ease, their M301s taking care of most of the Rightful Retribution's security crew, but they had to resort to their M2-T3s and wrist weapons when they ran into namy powered armor units. Half an hour after the landing mark, Jupiter stood at a massive armored door, which Mars was pulling open far easier than he had any right to.
Why do I get the feeling this is the boss zone?
Jupiter entered the massive room with his left arm extended, his M301 securely in his right. As the namy powered armor suits of ocean blue and scarlet red jumped from their ambush, Jupiter let loose with his wrist's plasma projector. The bright green and blue beam took barely a second each to cook his seven assailants inside their own armor.
A blast of yellow plasma made Jupiter's shields activate fully, the operator quickly rolling to his right. Capacitors at 3% and reactor generating at full power. Please don't be a tank. Jupiter stood up from his roll and ran quickly, dodging the barrage of yellow plasma consistently being sent in his direction.
After finding a position the new enemy could fire at him in, Jupiter peeked around the corner of the half melted namy tank he had hunkered behind. Firing at his position were 3 namy heavy tanks, each mounted with dual tank killing plasma projectors, anti-infantry laser cannons, and ramming blades. That is some bullshit levels of firepower. Were they planning a ground invasion?
When Mars entered the vehicle bay, Jupiter had already gotten all three of the heavy tanks attention, allowing him to easily walk far enough in the bay to have the vertical clearance to launch both of his shoulder mounted anti-tank missiles. Each missile launched straight into the air, turned almost on a dime, then flew downward onto their targets. At this range, the tanks' active defenses didn't have time to intercept the missiles, allowing them to penetrate the tops of the tanks' turrets and explode leaving a lone heavy tank, which now angrily turned towards Mars.
Perfect timing, you son of a bitch. Jupiter ran to the next bay as the tank followed his teammate. Capacitors at 12%. The wrist projector is going to suck up too much juice. The bay that Jupiter ran into held only the floating equivalent of a humvee, daintily hovering with a power line keeping it alive. This'll do. Jupiter grabbed the rear of the namy humvee and ran, pushing it into the vehicle bay's main corridor and giving it a single, hard push towards the last tank. As the namy humvee ripped from the power line, it quickly began falling towards the ground, skidding underneath the tank and pushing its rear higher, throwing a shot that could have killed Mars into the floor with a loud crash.
Mars hauled ass into the vehicle bays as the last tank turned back to Jupiter. Capacitors at 18%. Still no good. Jupiter jumped towards a pile of crates, using the cold thrusters to provide what little extra help they could. Please be empty, please be empty. A burst of molten metal shot from the front of the crate Jupiter hid behind as the first shot from the tank hit it. Jupiter quickly looked around and found another namy humvee in its bay and sprinted over to it, barely avoiding the tank's second shot.
22%. I wish Mars had taken that wrist rocket. The namy heavy tank rumbled as it rushed towards Jupiter's position, plasma projectors glowing yellow and ready to fire. Jupiter braced to run again when the tank's plasma projectors suddenly shut down, followed by yellow plasma shooting out of the top of the turret of the tank. He quickly walked out of the vehicle bay that could have been his grave.
Mars stood opposite the tank from Jupiter as he exited, holding one of the plasma projectors the namy tanks used with a long power line attached to it. Motioning down to the projector, Mars asked "Hey Jupiter, can I keep it?"
"Will you remember to feed and groom it daily, Mars?"
"Aww, fine." Mars tossed the tank projector to the ground, a loud thump echoing through the vehicle bay.
Jupiter turned towards the fore door of the vehicle bay. Two hallways, a set of stairs, then the bridge itself.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
40 minutes after after the landing mark, Jupiter and Mars stood at the blast door to the bridge, Jupiter ramming his shoulder into the bridge door repeatedly, making the dent in it bigger and bigger.
"I should have taken the grav pulse cannon Venus had." Mars said between the sounds of 30 centimeters of metal slowly giving way.
"The shotgun's gonna be more useful once were in!" Jupiter said as he finally sailed through the door, sending the piece of metal into the bridge, crushing one of the too colorful birds. Mars charged in shortly after, the gatling shotgun on his wrist sending over 2,000 lead pellets into the whole of the bridge.
As Jupiter stood up, recovering from winning his fight with the door, he surveyed the damage. Looks like we were just in time. Jupiter moved over to the pilots panel, which was thankfully holographic and undamaged by Mars's torrent of lead. Turning down every slider he could identify, Jupiter looked up just in time to witness a namy use the last of his life to press one of the holographic buttons.
A bright yellow flashed over the view screen as a ball of plasma was launched at relativistic speeds, leaving view as quickly as it had come into it. Jupiter and Mars stood still, taking in what had just happen, when a message was broadcast to all New Eden units.
"This is Captain Colbert of the Finality! Staging Station 8 has been hit! I repeat, Staging Station 8 has been hit!. Looks like atmosphere is leaking out and the Finality is picking up fires near the impact zone... Oh god, it's spinning and it looks like auto-correction is causing the station to enter a de-orbit trajectory. The Finality is moving to provide emergency aid!"
Jupiter felt paralyzed. If the station de-orbited and hit anywhere on New Eden, it would be devastating. And if the Doc goes, I'm gonna have to tell Taylor. Mars, on the other hand, moved like a blur, appearing over the dying namy, unloading the last of his rotary shotgun and the final 50ish rounds of his M2 into the bird, leaving only a hole where the bird once was.

August 25, 2214: Cassandra Ferrell, Nerolter's Ethanol Hut and Grill
Cass sat at the bar, nursing a beer and rubbing her sore muscles. 5 days in a row of PT, team building exercises, and sleeping in tents on shitty wooden cots and the worst of it was the wannabe drill instructor! At least I get a two day break from it. She looked at the kigkig bartender, a 10 limbed, ant-like horror with 4 of its limbs forming a quadpod stand at its hips with the other 6 being arms with 3 clawed digits that were currently cleaning glasses and serving drinks, with two gecko-like eyes planted into an otherwise ant-like head, mandibles and all. The dirt brown exoskeleton of the kigkig made the body, head and abdomen appear as if they were armored, despite the little guy only being 120ish cm tall.
"Hey Cass, how you holding up?" Came the voice of Danny as he sat down next to Cass.
"Sore, but alive. They don't talk about the CCT PT in the core worlds. Wait... what are you doing here, you're not old enough to drink yet!" Cass replied.
"Getting dinner and checking up on a friend. I was originally hanging out with my squad, but they've gone barhopping."
"Oh. Was Sam with them?" Cass questioned, eyebrows raising.
"No, she had a checkup meeting, or something like that." Danny said, his upper shoulders drooping slightly.
"Have you tried asking her out?"
"No. I live on the station and she lives planet side. I don't think that kind of long distance relationship would work. Besides, when would I even ask?" Danny threw up his arms as he spoke, setting them back down gently as his food arrived.
"Listen, Danny. Ask her when the rest of the squad isn't around, because if you ask in front of a crowd, any yes you get'll be forced. You may have to ask her if you can talk to her in private. She seems like a nice girl, so I doubt she'll be a dick about it." Cass spoke with her motherly voice. Here I am giving sage advice.
"Yeah, but that doesn't help the whole long distance thing. Having to get a shuttle down to the planet kills the idea of impromptu dates and stuff." Danny said, sounding even more defeated than before.
"Look, Danny, she works for CCT. She isn't really going to be able to do the impromptu stuff, so you'd have plenty of warning on when you could go down and visit, or she could come up and visit. Outside of that, find a game, or something, on the web the two of you can have fun over. That helps to shrink the distance."
"That's a good point, Cass. You win this one. You just here to drink or do you need me out of your hair?"
"Don't know yet, but I'm planning on drinking proper, so you may want to go off on your own before I end up ruining our friendship while I'm drunk."
Danny stood up while grabbing his food. "Enjoy your night. Oh, if your up for it tomorrow, there's an arcade I know about that the rest of my squad is 'too old for.'" Bet Danny's squad can't handle having their asses kicked by preteens with nothing better to do.
"Thanks, we'll see tomorrow." Cass said, taking another sip from her drink.
After an hour, or so, of drinking, eating and talking with the locals, Cass was approached by an elven woman, turning to look at the lithe figure as she approached. The woman was a roughly 160 cm tall brunette, her silky hair falling halfway down her back, with perfectly tanned skin, a soft face, as far as a drunken Cass could tell, and a body straight from baywatch. The elf's ears stuck out from her hair, the right ear having 3 silver earings rings that hugged the lobe near its point while the left was left as nature made it. I can't tell if its the booze, but she might be a goddess.
Sitting down next to Cass and putting a bill, that Cass was too drunk to read quickly, on the counter, the elf turned to Cass and said "Can I buy you a drink beautiful?"
"You can buy me as many as you like. I'm Cass. You?" Cass replied, a hungry smile spreading itself across her lips.
"Erika. Now, what brings a cute kitsune like you to my favorite watering hole?" The elf woman replied, taking a seat and holding up 2 fingers to the kigkig bartender.
"Got today and tomorrow off from CCT, so I figured I'd save tomorrow for hangover day." Cass casually shrugged as a 2 shots of clear liquid were placed before her and Erika.
"First week? You gotta be sore after that." Erika jokingly said before throwing back her shot.
"Hell yeah I'm sore, but I feel great right now!" Cass grabbed her shot and tossed it back.
"What do you think about waking up sorer tomorrow?" Erika said, holding up 2 fingers to the bartender again, a grin matching Cass's upon her lips.
"I'm listening." Cass said, leaning in closer to Erika and tossing back her shot the moment the bartender let go of it.
"Well, a friend of mine is setting up an orgy tonight and when I saw you, I thought 'That cute little kitsune at the bar would make for a great friend to bring to the orgy.'" Erika said, her smile growing larger as she spoke.
"You know what, I'll bite. How much longer do I have to get to know you?" Cass asked.
"About an hour."

A decent open-world game with gorgeous art direction and some unfortunate missteps which become more and more apparent the more you play. Whatever you are doing here, almost every mission ends up with two or even three fights with mongolian soldiers. And even engaging stories during these quests can't fix the repetitiveness.
ACG - Jeremy Penter - Buy
"An absolute pleasure to play"
Ars Technica - Sam Machkovech - Unscored
If you need to get lost in over 30 hours of heroic gameplay right now, in a single-player adventure with no online connectivity gimmicks or content locked away as DLC, Sucker Punch has you covered with an instant contender for 2020's game of the year.
Atomix - Alberto Desfassiaux - Spanish - 91 / 100
Yes, we have the presence of some clutches and design flaws very typical of the subgenre to which this title belongs, but nothing that overshadows the experience that this closure represents to the great exclusives of the PlayStation 4.
Attack of the Fanboy - William Schwartz - 4.5 / 5 stars
Ghost of Tsushima is a masterclass on how to make a palatable and focused open world experience
AusGamers - Kosta Andreadis - 8.1 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima isn’t perfect, not even close. But neither is Jin Sakai, and his journey from Samurai to Ghost is one worth savouring, and a Legendary Tale all its own.
CGMagazine - Lane Martin - Unscored
I adore Ghost of Tsushima in some pretty major ways. It certainly isn’t a perfect game, but it is fairly close.
COGconnected - James Paley - 90 / 100
I can think of no better game to be the swan song for the PS4.
Cerealkillerz - Gabriel Bogdan - German - 8.7 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima often loses itself in visual details and is missing endgame challenges but still offers enough gameplay variety and content to even get classic open world RPG Fans on board. For fans of the world of samurais and katanas this game is definitely the best one in years.
Critical Hit - Darryn Bonthuys - 9 / 10
A melancholic tale of war and a fitting epilogue to a current-gen era, Sucker Punch's latest effort is a slick showcase for the PlayStation 4 that draws you into a world that never fails to impress. Ghost of Tsushima is a masterpiece of precise gameplay, emotional turmoil and powerful world design.
DASHGAMER.com - Michael Pulman - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima might be the last big gun on the PS4, but it’s also one of the best, albeit for a slightly disengaging main plot.
Daily Mirror - Lloyd Coombes - 4 / 5 stars
This quest for revenge might not challenge your expectations, but there’s no denying the amount of fun to be had off the coast of Japan.
Daily Star - George Yang - 5 / 5 stars
The gameplay is fun, the narrative and its characters are great, and the art direction is absolutely beautiful. The pros here vastly outweigh the cons. Ghost of Tsushima is a breathtaking adventure.
Destructoid - Chris Carter - 9.5 / 10
With Ghost of Tsushima under its belt, Sucker Punch deserves to be in the same conversation as Insomniac, Naughty Dog, and Sony Santa Monica. If this generation is to wrap up soon, it's fitting that it'll end with Tsushima: one of its most beautiful games thus far.
Digital Chumps - Nathaniel Stevens - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a narrative-driven game that has unique combat, a plethora of exploration, and enough heart to keep gamers coming back for more even after the game is beaten. The lack of a combat camera locking system will certainly cause some frustrations, but that is small potatoes when compared to the rest of the experience. This is the game Sucker Punch said it would be, and you won't be disappointed.
Digital Trends - 4.5 / 5 stars
Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best games I’ve played this year — it might’ve been my favorite, if not for The Last Of Us Part II. Jin Sakai’s story is violent but thoughtful, delivering an experience that feels unique on the PlayStation 4 despite the fact 2020 is the console’s last year before the PlayStation 5 makes it obsolete.
Digitally Downloaded - Matt Sainsbury - 3 / 5 stars
A wild misfire with every narrative element it attempts, and it boils down to this: Sucker Punch decided to do a historical epic inspired by Kurosawa… and produced something that fails as both history and as a pastiche of Kurosawa.
EGM - Mollie L Patterson - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima falls short of the kind of gameplay we expect from developer Sucker Punch at this point, but then excels all other expectations in its storytelling and world building. Protagonist Jin Sakai and the rest of the cast are all fantastic characters, and the tale they tell is one worth experiencing—even in those moments where the gameplay may falter.
Easy Allies - Brad Ellis - 8.5 / 10
Review copy provided by PlayStation. Ghost of Tsushima is a captivating journey through ancient Japan with fluid swordplay and a gorgeous world to explore.
Echo Boomer - David Fialho - Portuguese - Loved
Despite some minor flaws, Ghost of Tsushima is trully a love letter to samurai cinema.
Eurogamer - Chris Tapsell - No Recommendation / Blank
Limited by a rote and rigid world, Sucker Punch's samurai homage pairs okay action with enjoyably committed, if awkwardly fawning melodrama.
Everyeye.it - Giuseppe Arace - Italian - 7.5 / 10
In short, the Ghost of Tsushima wind blows lightly.
GAMES.CH - Benjamin Braun - German - 89 / 100
Sucker Punch combines an epic, profound story about honor and the will of freedom with versatile action in an atmospheric setting in pre-industrial Japan. The diverse game world with all its cultural references offers a worthwhile and vast proposition, never becomming an annoying obligation.
GRYOnline.pl - Polish - 9 / 10
This is a great work to say goodbye to PlayStation 4, not only dotting and after a few really good years of using this console, but also allowing you to look optimistically into the future, waiting for what studios such as Sucker Punch Productions will prepare for the next generation with better technology.
Gadgets 360 - Akhil Arora - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima falls a bit short. The narrative blocks and storytelling are too straightforward. To add to that, the side-quest bloat seeps the narrative of its pacing
Game Informer - Matt Miller - 9.5 / 10
At turns both melancholy and thrilling, Ghost of Tsushima is the open-world action formula at its most mature and immersive. Deep, rewarding, and hard to put down
Game Rant - Anthony Taormina - 4.5 / 5 stars
Sucker Punch Productions builds on its open-world expertise with Ghost of Tsushima, putting players in control of a deadly samurai.
Game Revolution - Mack Ashworth - 4 / 5 stars
Ghost of Tsushima is a worthy addition to the roster of must-play PS4 exclusives that have kept players loyal to the console.
GameByte - Oliver Hope - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima offers an open world that is fun to experience but is let down by its missions. If you can look past that though you will love it.
GameMAG - Александр Логинов - Russian - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a stunning mix of Assassin's Creed and The Witcher 3, based on samurai films and traditional Japanese contemplation of nature. At the same time, this is the best Assassin's Creed ever created. There are no emasculated positive heroes and unambiguous villains, the tasks are exciting and interesting. And this is currently the most fascinating and visually impressive game on the PlayStation 4.
GamePro - Dennis Michel - German - 90 / 100
Ghost of Tsushima with its wonderful world, great characters and a massive combat system is the last highlight of the PS4 era.
GameSpew - Richard Seagrave - 8 / 10
It is quite possibly the best samurai game ever made, and is well worth picking up if you’re after another epic open-world to get lost in. Just temper your expectations as much as your steel.
GameSpot - Edmond Tran - 7 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima has some dull edges, but strikes a lot of highs with its cinematic stylings.

As the sun sets on the PS4, Sucker Punch has given the console a noble send-off with Ghost of Tsushima. Although it takes some time to feel engaged by its beautifully tragic narrative, its brutal yet eloquent gameplay and picture-esque world never fail to capture you.
Gameblog - Jonathan Bushle - French - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is definitely the last great game PS4 deserved. It's a fantastic open world game, visually stunning, incredibly fun to play, whether you choose to progress as a noble warrior or a stealthy ninja, a very immersive representation of feudal Japan and a truly admirable love letter to the samurai movie genre. If you own a PS4, you MUST play Ghost of Tsushima.
Gamerheadquarters - Jason Stettner - 8.6 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a great experience, telling the tale of a lone individual that’s trying to hold together the idea and honor of what it means to be a Samurai despite the odds requiring new methods of engagement.
Gamersky - 不倒翁蜀黍 - Chinese - 8.5 / 10
The beautiful sightseeings, intense samurai combat, and fascinating side-missions of Ghost of Tsushima are appealing for me. But the dull and repetitive open-world makes the exploration experience boring.
GamesRadar+ - Rachel Weber - 4.5 / 5 stars
Ghost of Tsushima is the samurai Assassin's Creed Ubisoft will wish it had made
GamingTrend - Ron Burke - 95 / 100
Ghost of Tsushima is easily the biggest and most ambitious game Sucker Punch has ever undertaken. It's also the best game they've ever made. Akira Kurosawa would be proud.
Geek Culture - Jake Su - 9.3 / 10
A fitting PlayStation first-party exclusive to arrive for the PS4, Ghost of Tsushima is an epic adventure that has all the right ingredients for major success.
Glitched Africa - Marco Cocomello - 9.5 / 10
The game is an extraordinary combination of great storytelling and combat set in a remarkable world.
God is a Geek - Chris White - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a landmark game that blends its narrative with its visuals perfectly, and has delicious, satisfying combat to boot. Climbing is clumsy, and the story takes a while to get going, but overall it's a truly wonderful game.
Guardian - Keza MacDonald - 3 / 5 stars
Visually rich design brings cinematic scope to this historical action game, but when sword-fighting brings diminishing rewards, console yourself with a haiku
Hardcore Gamer - Adam Beck - 4.5 / 5
Ghost of Tsushima is one of the few games this generation that left a momentous impression on me.
Hobby Consolas - David Martinez - Spanish - 91 / 100
Ghost of Tsushime is a beautiful game. This samurai open world has a great combat system and it is technically flawless, but its gameplay is too conservative and it often feels too generic.
IGN - Mitchell Saltzman - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is an excellent action game and its open world is one of the most gorgeous yet.
IGN Italy - Davide Mancini - Italian - 7.5 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a beautiful love letter to the chambara and atmospheres of feudal Japan, but it is also a confused open world, which alternates fun moments and a fascinating style with sensational naivety.
IGN Spain - Spanish - 8.7 / 10
Sucker Punch has successfully solved the challenge of creating such an extremely Japanese game by an occidental studio. Despite being essentially a blueprinted open world game, its historical setting and combat with katana are extremely satisfying to have enjoyed the more than 20 hours of game it has to offer.
Inverse - 9 / 10
Sucker Punch’s latest tries to do a lot, and it slam dunks a vast majority of its narrative, design, and stylistic choices. Sure, the game could have leaned more aggressively into some of its best features. But I’ll happily take 'Ghost' for what it is: an incredible showcase of everything great about this generation of video games.
Kotaku - Ian Walker - Unscored
At its core, it’s just another open-world game.
LevelUp - Luis Sánchez - Spanish - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a slight surprise. It is an all-around experience which delivers the fantasy of being a mythical samurai warrior. However, not everything shines, especially with the stealth systems, that do not square up, mechanically nor thematically. As the old saying goes, a samurai cannot obey 2 masters, because he dishonors himself. Thus, Ghost of Tsushima is a reminder of why Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 are generational gems and benchmarks in open world terms.
MMORPG.com - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is the samurai game I’ve personally always wanted, and it’s one I can find myself diving into just to explore the world and take in the sights as I play, helping Jin find some small measure of peace along the way, assuming the wind guides us there.
Merlin'in Kazanı - Ersin Kılıç - Turkish - 75 / 100
If the game was developed a little more it might have turned out to be a classic, but with this current state Ghost of Tsushima is only a good action game.
Metro GameCentral - 7 / 10
A competent but shallow and overfamiliar attempt to replicate Assassin's Creed style open world adventure in the world of 13th century samurai.
Nerdburglars - Dan Hastings - 6 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is an artistically creative game that often feels like a realistic Zelda game. The minimal UI, clever use of wind and beautiful environmental details make exploration rewarding on its own. When it comes to combat, the game falls flat. With a huge number of combat games to draw inspiration from, it is a shame this game is more like Dynasty Warriors than it is Ninja Gaiden. Endless button mashing with no way to ever pull off slick combos will have you feeling bored very quickly. You never feel like the powerful warrior the story tries to make you believe you are. Combat feels like you are trying to beat a screw into a piece of wood using a hammer.
New Game Network - Alex Varankou - 84 / 100
Ghost of Tsushima offers a well-designed open world that combines great combat with enticing exploration. The excellent art style brings this unique historical setting to life, and smart design choices help the game overcome its minor flaws.
Next Gen Base - Andrew Beeken - 9 / 10
A game full of meaningful moments, of quiet contemplation and brutal, savage combat. A game about family, tradition, honour and change that comes at a significant point of change in Sony’s videogame strategy. A more hopeful and less alienating experience than The Last of Us Part II and a step back to a more gentle and inviting form of open world adventure, Ghost of Tsushima is both a celebration of the past and a look towards the future, and is a fitting first party swansong for the PS4.
Nexus - Sam Aberdeen - 9.5 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a fitting swan song for the PS4, and ends this generation of PlayStation on a triumphant note. Sucker Punch have to be applauded for once again creating a jaw-dropping open world with strong visual fidelity and some of the best art direction they've ever achieved.
Oyungezer Online - Turkish - 8.5 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima was a very enjoyable adventure for me with its tireless open world, well-crafted and memorable characters.
Paste Magazine - Garrett Martin - 7 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima just wants you to play a game you’ve basically already played many times, while also telling you about that cool old samurai movie it watched the other day. Which one sounds more interesting to you?
PlayStation Universe - John-Paul Jones - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima elevates the existing open world adventure template with a fantasy-free Samurai adventure that deftly pays loving homage to the Samurai cinema of old. While your mileage may vary according to your level of open world fatigue, Ghost of Tsushima undoubtedly remains not only one of the best open world romps money can buy and a stunning PlayStation 4 exclusive, but also Sucker Punch Productions finest effort to date.
Player.it - Michele Longobardi - Italian - 7.7 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima has exceptional aesthetic care, has a solid and convincing combat system, stealth phases in the norm, but lacks in too many things to be able to become a new reference point for Sony's exclusive production
Player2.net.au - Paul James - A-
The world is enormous, filled to the brim with rich content to explore. It can be a bit much sometimes with the number of artefacts you can find or haikus to sit and devise bloating things a little bit, but players will be blown away by the deep storytelling and unbelievable style and personality that Ghost of Tsushima brings to the table.
Polygon - Carolyn Petit - Unscored
Ghost of Tsushima offers a lovely world to explore, and there’s value in that, but it should have been so much more than a checklist of activities to accomplish.
Post Arcade (National Post) - Chad Sapieha - 8.5 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is indisputably indebted to Assassin’s Creed (and, to a lesser degree, Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption games), but it does just enough to establish a personality of its own. And it’s fun.
PowerUp! - Adam Mathew - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima isn't perfect but, like a summoned objective on your touchpad, it's a breath of fresh air that'll send a warm chill down the spine of any Samurai aficionado.
Press Start - Kieron Verbrugge - 8.5 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima might be built from the same stuff as its AAA, open world contemporaries, but that doesn't stop it from being one of the best open world experiences of the generation.
Push Square - Robert Ramsey - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a joy to play and a joy to behold. Sucker Punch has crafted one of the most memorable open world games of this generation, buoyed by an immensely satisfying combat system and an engaging, dramatic story.
SECTOR.sk - Ondrej Džurdženík - Slovak - 8.5 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima provides us with an awesome trip to feudal Japan that only lacks a bit of story depth.
Saudi Gamer - Arabic - 9 / 10
The island of Tsushima is the star of the game, with its variety and beauty, and myriad of secrets and stories. Coupled with all the interlocking systems and varied options, though making the game somewhat bloated, makes this one of the most well rounded experiences I've experienced.
Screen Rant - Christopher Teuton - 5 / 5 stars
Ghost of Tsushima is the best Assassin's Creed game there is, and likely the closest many users will ever get to experiencing what it's like to be a samurai in 11th century Japan.
Shacknews - Blake Morse - 9 / 10
Perhaps Ghost of Tsushima isn’t a perfect cherry blossom, but it is pretty damn close as far as I’m concerned.
Sirus Gaming - Erickson Melchor - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a worthy addition to the pantheon of games under the care of Sucker Punch Productions. This honestly feels like a true return to form from a studio that wavered ever so slightly at the beginning of this generation. Sucker Punch may have stumbled a little at the gates, but with a game like this, they finish strong at the twilight year of this console generation. A full understanding of the system's strengths and a creative vision that would not compromise for anything, that's what made the samurai epic, Ghost of Tsushima, possible.

Ghost of Tsushima has gripped me like no other title in a while and will resonate with me long after I have beaten it. We couldn't wish for a better final AAA exclusive title for the PlayStation 4

Ghost of Tsushima is probably the best game about Japan, but the story is too simple and the complex combat system can be tricked by evasive actions that transform it into an easy game.
Spiel Times - Caleb Wysor - 7 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is an enjoyable but muddled experience: its strong gameplay fundamentals are hampered by a lack of originality and weak storytelling.
Telegraph - Dan Silver - 3 / 5 stars
Sucker Punch's PS4 tribute to Akira Kurosawa is gorgeous to behold but its sparse open-world and bloated mechanics has it falling short
The Games Machine - Danilo Dellafrana - Italian - 9.5 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is greater than the sum of its parts: it does not reinvent the wheel in any of its aspects, but offers an experience that will thoroughly entertain lovers of open world and oriental settings.
TheSixthAxis - Aran Suddi - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is an artistic triumph, capturing a real cinematic feel through its visuals, immersive world and soundtrack. However, Jin is a serviceable main character and he and his journey to save Tsushima is often overshadowed by secondary characters and smaller, more personal stories found in the side quests. Throw in some formulaic missions and an awkward user interface, and Ghost of Tsushima is at times more style than substance.
Too Much Gaming - Matthew Arcilla - 7 / 10
As an earnest, respectful tribute to jidaigeki dramas and the films of Akira Kurosawa, Ghost of Tsushima fares well enough. It creates a fictionalized account of the Mongol Invasion and weaves the tale into the most videogamey of videogame things – an open-world sandbox filled with straw-hat wearing ronin, mischievous foxes, hot springs, and meditative haiku. It’s easily the most ambitious output from Sucker Punch Productions to date.
TrueGaming - محمد البسيمي - Arabic - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is an artistic experience packed with an engaging adventure that bring us many wonderful and thrilling storytelling moments.
TrustedReviews - Jade King - 4 / 5 stars
Ghost of Tsushima is an excellent open-world adventure from Sucker Punch Productions which adds some innovative ideas to a fairly stagnant genre. The game's depiction of the time period is generic and inoffensive, but that doesn't prevent it from being a stunning visual showcase and a worthwhile swan song for the PS4
Twinfinite - Alex Gibson - 4.5 / 5
Ghost of Tsushima features a level of charm that gives it a soul and personality lacking from so many AAA games lack these days. Even if it ultimately suffers from repetition by the game’s end, and despite a lack of variety in its quest, the magic of that initial exploration and the beauty of its world will stick with me for a very long time.

A decent open-world game with gorgeous art direction and some unfortunate missteps which become more and more apparent the more you play. Whatever you are doing here, almost every mission ends up with two or even three fights with mongolian soldiers. And even engaging stories during these quests can't fix the repetitiveness.

GameZone - Cade Onder - 8.5 / 10
