2019.06.02 08:46 asidewaysnumber [NO SPOILERS] Why did none of the main cast (Peter, Kit, Emilia, etc.) become executive producers of the show?

Many long running shows, or even shows that seem like they'll last more than three seasons, typically have main cast members become executive producers of the show. Bones, for example, had both Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz serving as executive producers (yes, they are now involved in litigation regarding their pay), or Burn Notice (with Jeffrey Donovan becoming an executive producer by season three, if not before). But this was never something that happened in GoT, despite its longevity. At the very least, I expected to see Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke become executive producers (they seemed to be wearing the thickest plot armor), but there was never a whiff of increased involvement on their parts. Was this intentionally done? Did cast members express interest, only to get shot down? It's not out of the realm of possibility for HBO shows to have cast members acting as executive producers (from the beginning of True Detective, Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey served as executive producers), so why was this one so different? Were D&D gatekeeping?

2019.01.21 06:04 SecondaryAdmin I want a talking Trans Am so bad!

Apparently, the wrong people were called in to investigate Teresa's murder. David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, despite having played characters who caught murderers would have solved the murder and exonerate dAvery and Dassey in 47 minutes, before they were even suspected of a crime. You know, after David Caruso took his sunglasses off and put them back on multiple times before finding Avery's semen everywhere, but no matter the crime, the criminal always leaves semen everywhere. One can only dream that my car can turbo boost.

2018.10.17 02:37 rainbow-dam I wanna to see a show on the Disney streaming service based on the Howling Commandos. But not the ones you’re thinking of...

I’m talking about the monster version of the HCs from 2005. With like Warwolf, John Doe, Frankenstein, so on. I think it’ll be real cool to have a horror-based show that’ll tackle the darkescarier elements from the comics.
I also have a fan-cast all down as well:
-Clay Quartermain: Kiefer Sutherland
-Warwolf: Keith David
-Nina Prince: Emily Deschanel
-N’Kantu: Amr Waked
-Frankenstein: Michael C. Hall
-John Doe: David Boreanaz

2018.10.15 09:43 angelfatal Probably unintentional Buffy reference in Bones Season 2 (Warning: Minor Bones spoilers)

I watched Bones years before I watched Buffy, and am now re-watching the series. For context, David Boreanaz plays FBI agent Seeley Booth, and this is his ex, Rebecca (Jessica Capshaw, aka Arizona from Grey's Anatomy), talking to series lead Brennan ("Bones", Emily Deschanel) about why their relationship didn't work out.
This is probably not intentional enough to be an easter egg, it immediately stood out to me as something Buffy could have said re: Angel (and Spike) post season 7. What do you think? Am I making something out of nothing?

2016.11.24 05:04 Upgrader01 SEASON 12: Final(?) Details

So far, this is all the information that's known about Season 12. Information is taken my previous thread on this, plus several new things!
12.1 - The Hope in the Horror -- Direct continuation of The Nightmare within the Nightmare. Directed by Emily Deschanel. Intern: Wendell
12.2 - The Brain in the Bot -- Intern: Daisy
12.3 - The Old Tricks in the Old Dogs -- Guest starring Ed Asner & Hal Hallbrook. Intern: Arastoo
12.4 - The Price for the Past -- Intern: Jessica. So... about this episode... if you ask me, the title kinda hints that this is the episode that will deal with Aubrey's dad returning or something similar. Also, according to the showrunners, another "big twist" will happen this episode.
NOTE: According to TJ Thyne's Instagram, both Zack and Karen Delfs (the redhead behavioral analyst from three S11 episodes) will reappear in at least one of these first four episodes.
12.5 - The Tutor in the Tussle -- The intern for this episode is Fisher, and the title hints that he or his job will have something to do with the main plot.
12.6 - The Flaw in the Saw -- Intern: Rodolfo. The title makes me think about trees.
12.7 - The Grief in the Girl -- Intern: Clark. This is the episode where Sully returns.
12.8 - The Scare in the Score -- Intern: Arastoo. This might be Cam and Arastoo's wedding, but I honestly have no idea.
12.9 - The Steal in the Wheels -- From what I can gather, this is the Buck and Wanda episode, guest starring Stephen Fry and David Boreanaz's wife Jaime Bergman. (Intern: Rodolfo)
12.10 - The Radioactive Panthers in the Party -- Intern: Wendell. Betty White returns to Bones!
12.11 - The Day in the Life -- According to showrunner Michael Peterson, the meaning of 447 will finally be revealed! From what I can tell, the four "main" interns will all appear in this episode too. [As of 23/11, this is the episode currently being shot.]
12.12 - The End in the End -- Fitting title for the FINALE, huh? The only things known about it are that the Diner won't appear, and Stephen Nathan wrote the story. (No Hart Hanson though)

2016.11.02 02:25 Upgrader01 [SPOILERS] What's set to happen in Season 12

An Italian website has revealed some details about Season 12! http://www.i-bones.net/12-stagione/ I've combined the info from there with what's already been revealed.
12x1 - The Hope in the Horror: Continuation of The Nightmare Within the Nightmare, going into detail about Zack and the Puppeteer. Directed by Emily Deschanel. (Intern: Wendell)
12x2 - The Brain in the Bot (Intern: Daisy)
12x3 - The New Tricks in the Old Dogs: The episode guest starring Ed Asner and Hal Hallbrook. (Intern: Arastoo)
12x4 - The Price for the Past: According to this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8klxzv6IH7M), another big plot twist/return will happen in this episode. (Intern: Jessica)
12x5 - The Tutor in the Tussle The Intern for this ep is Fisher. Wonder if he's the "tutor" in the title?
12x6 - The Flaw in the Saw: (Intern: Rodolfo)
12x7 - The Grief and the Girl: Sully returns. (Intern: Clark)
12x8 - The Scare in the Score: My guess is that this is Cam and Arastoo's wedding.
12x9 - The Steal in the Wheels: THIS is the undercover lumberjack episode, featuring Stephen Fry and David Boreanaz's wife Jaime (Intern: Rodolfo)
12x10 - The Radioactive Panthers in the Party: BETTY WHITE RETURNS (Intern: Wendell)
12x11 - ???: THE MEANING OF 447 IS REVEALED. Also, part 1 of the finale.
12x12 - ???: Last episode.
EDITED WITH MORE DETAILS/CORRECTIONS. Also, it seems Karen Delfs, the behavioral analyist from The Doom and the Boom and The Monster in the Closet is also coming back, according to a IG picture by TJ Thyne.

2016.02.25 22:12 autotldr ‘Bones’ Gets 12-Episode Final Season On Fox, Stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel Set To Return

This is an automatic summary, original reduced by 67%.
The network has renewed the long-running comedic procedural for a 12-episode farewell 12th season.
I hear the plan for a final season of Bones was put in motion in the first week of February when producing studio 20th Century Fox TV sent out offers to stars Boreanaz and Deschanel for a 12-episode 12th season.
At TCA last month, Fox chairman Dana Walden stressed that the network would not go forward with another season of Bones without Boreanaz and Deschanel and noted that the ongoing litigation by two Bones producers and its stars would have no impact on the renewal.
"Bones has been part of the fabric of our network and studio for over a decade, and during that time it has attracted one of the most devoted fan bases we've ever seen," said Walden and Newman.
Currently on hiatus, Bones returns for its Season 11 spring premiere on April 14, airing in the Thursday 8 PM slot.
"Also knowing there is a Season 12, we can now write the most rewarding Season 11 finale possible - one we hope will leave our fans excited for what's to come in this final season of Bones."

2015.12.01 20:28 autotldr ‘Bones’ Stars, Kathy Reichs Claim Fox Cheated Them Out of Profits

This is an automatic summary, original reduced by 54%.
"Bones" stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz, and author Kathy Reichs, have filed suit against Fox, claiming that the studio has cheated them out of tens of millions in profits from the series via self-dealing and misallocation.
The plaintiffs contend that 20th Century Fox Television "Has engaged in a systematic and pervasive effort to cheat" them out of profits from the longest running drama ever broadcast by the Fox network.
The most recent lawsuit claims that even as the series became more profitable for Fox, accounting statements issued by the studio "Counter-intuitively shows plaintiffs falling farther and farther away from achieving profits."
According to the lawsuit, Reichs, a forensic anthropologist on whose novels the series was based, was promised a 5% share of the profits for her rights as well as producing services.
The lawsuit claims that in 2010, shortly after the series fifth season finale, Reichs received a statement showing that she was almost $90 million away from receiving profit payments, while Borneanaz and Deschanel were nearly $100 million away from profits.
The plaintiffs claim that Fox charged below-market rates in licensing the series to affiliates, reducing the pool of revenue available to profit participants.

When the standard methods of identifying a body are useless (when the remains are so badly decomposed, burned or destroyed), law enforcement calls on Brennan for her uncanny ability to read clues left behind in the victim's bones. While most people can't handle Brennan's intelligence, her drive for the truth or the way she flings herself headlong into every investigation, Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) of the FBI's Homicide Investigations Unit is an exception. 2012.09.25 19:04 arashi256 What does a movie/TV producer do?

I used to think that a producer merely financed a movie or TV series but I've noticed recently that the main stars of movies or TV shows often appear in the credits as co-producers. Both David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel co-produce "Bones" and Tom Cruise co-produced the last "Mission Impossible" movie.
So what's the deal? What do they do?

2012.03.09 20:11 SoCal310 ‘Bones’ Creator “Confident” There Will Be Seasons 8 And 9

‘Bones’ Creator “Confident” There Will Be Seasons 8 And 9
http://www.deadline.com/2012/03/bones-creator-confident-there-will-be-seasons-8-and-9/ At tonight’s PaleyFest panel on Fox’s forensic series Bones, creatoexecutive producer Hart Hanson and executive producer Stephen Nathan could not reassure fans that the series, now in its seventh season, will definitely make it to a Season 8, or a Season 9. But Hanson was bold enough to say he believes the show will be back. “There’s always the business side between the studio and the network, and they have to figure our license fees and things,” Hanson said. “But, I hate to say this, in many, many ways, Bones is Fox’s most successful hour-long scripted drama. I’m pretty confident that we’ll be back for Seasons 8 and 9, yeah.” Anticipating a Season 8, the producers said Bones would end Season 7 with a cliffhanger although they would not reveal details. “There will be a large cliff that people will be hanging from,” Nathan deadpanned. “It’ll change the course, certainly the beginning, of season 8.”
The producers, appearing on the panel, hosted by TVLine’s Michael Ausiello, with staexecutive producer Emily Deschanel and cast members David Boreanaz, Michaela Conlin and John Francis Daley, also teased some plot points that might be revealed in Seasons 8 and 9, including the real name of Angela Montenegro (Michaela Conlin). “We’ll make a story about it,” Hanson said. “[Viewers] really want to know what Angela’s name is, and they want to know what’s on page 187.” When asked whether viewers could expect a wedding for Deschanel and Boreanaz’ characters — who become parents this season — before the series ends, Nathan quipped: “If they ever get married, we’ll see a wedding.” He also said of the birth of their baby in the series: “It’s still Bones — we don’t want to give the impression we’re doing Parenthood. There will still be someone who is dead and revolting, and they will try to figure out who did it. They will have to figure out how to deal with this baby while they deal with these murders.”
Along with the 13 episodes that complete this season’s story arc, the producers confirmed they have produced 4 extra episodes that are not part of the arc but “we don’t know where they are going to be” on the season schedule. Near the end of the session, someone from the audience asked how the producers felt about having the series moved to Monday nights, out of its plum Thursday slot following American Idol. “Good. I know we’re supposed to be upset,” Hanson said. “Monday nights are very, very good for us. We’ve always wanted to be with House. It’s a good match for us. We’re fine with it.”
Bones will continue w/ season 8 and 9. Good news for production staff and talent in LA!
